In Scuol/Tarasp im Unterengadin fand man um 1849 den aussergewöhnlichen Schmuckstein Taraspit. Seine Farben variieren von gelbgrün bis intensiv apfelgrün, teils abgegrenzt durch feine weisse Schichten. Sie verleihen diesem Stein ein wunderschönes, teils diskret durchscheinendes Aussehen und machen ihn dadurch in seiner Beschaffenheit einmalig. Es handelt sich dabei um einen durch Nickeloxyd gefärbten Dolomit. Im letzten Jahrhundert wurden grössere Funde gemacht, heute ist er jedoch nur noch in Museen zu bestaunen.
