Es gilt als gesichert, dass diese ultrabasischen Gesteine bei der Alpenfaltung wie ein riesiger Span aus dem Erdmantel, aus einer Tiefe von 80 – 100 Kilometern an die Oberfläche hoch geschuppt wurden. Die 40 Millionen Jahre alten Arami-eridotite bestehen zur Gänze aus einem leicht verschieferten, granatreichen Eklogit. Seine Oberfläche ist zum Teil stark verwittert, wobei blutrote Pyropkörner hervortreten. Olivinreicher Peridotitkern mit intensivgrünem Omphazit (Pyroxen).
